Fluorocarbon

Fluorocarbon rubber is a fluorinated organic polymer and is based primarily on .vinyldene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene. Other similar compositions have increased fluorine content via use of tetrafluoroethylene for improved fluid resistance or with perfluoromethylvinyl ether for better low temperature properties.

Fluorocarbon rubber have excellent resistance to petroleum products and solvents, with good high temperature compression set characteristics.  They are highly resistant to swelling in gasoline and gasoline/alcohol blends, as well as resistant to the degrading effects of light and ozone.

Fluorocarbon is used extensively in seals for fuel handling systems in aircraft engines, automotive and aerospace applications.
